On the Way to Linuxworld

| Comments

Well, I’m on the way to Linuxworld, and posting this on the train ride to San Francisco. I should be there in about another half hour… time for geek fest ‘03. ;)

Last year’s Linuxworld kinda sucked due to the bubble popping - it’ll be interesting to see how things go now that the economy’s kinda stablilized at an overall shitty level. I’ll update with more either from the show or from the return train ride.

Work, Work, Work… Nah.

Well, here I am in my new office, and I just can’t get really fired up about work. I’ve updated some things, and gotten all the “hot” stuff done, but I keep finding myself being distracted. Could it be the Dr. Phil on the TV? Nah. The iPod is acting as an anti-Phil field. The teeny boppers coming into the place in the short shorts? Nah, I’m married and they’re too damn young. Mebbe I need a vacation. Yeah, a for-real vacation. That’d be great. Yeah. Right. Jebus, I can’t even get fired up about a vacation. Well, I’m gonna post this before the TiBook battery dies, and then I’ll pop another battery in it and see how much “work” I can get done before I either have to:
1) Go Home
2) Run out of battery again and:
3) See step 1.

Happy Birthday to Me.

Well, 31 years ago today, I was hatched. Woot. Thanks to my wife and family - they all chipped in so I could get an iPod for my birthday. Apple Store gift certificates are so cool. I got the certs a couple of days ago, since much of my family’s gonna be out of town - so I wound up picking up a 15GB iPod. Cool little device. Hopefully Griffin Technologies releases the updated iTrip soon, so I can listen to my tunes in the car without headphones.

Kickstarting a Cube…

I can’t leave well enough alone. I flashed a PC Geforce 2MX to a Mac ROM, and stuffed it in the Cube. Surprisingly, it works great. All of a sudden, I can play newer games, something I haven’t been able to do in years on the PC. Jedi Knight II, BloodRayne, and Return to Wolfenstein all play very well on the Cube, and there’s still no noise out of the lil guy ‘cause I popped the fan off the vidcard before I put in in there. :)
