Bruce Perens rides to the rescue again. He’s debunked two key pieces of “evidence” that SCO says proves their case that the Linux developers copied code, line-for-line, from UnixWare to Linux.

eWEEK: For its part though, SCO has said that there are so many lines of code, and a variety of applications and devices that use that code, that simply removing the offending code would not be technically feasible or possible and would not solve the problem. Do you agree?

Torvalds: They are smoking crack. Their slides said there are [more than] 800,000 lines of SMP code that are “infringing,” and they are just off their rocker. The SMP code was written by a number of Linux people I know well (I did a lot of the SMP IRQ scalability myself, personally), so their claims are just ludicrous. And they claim they own JFS [journaled file system technology] too. Whee. They’re not shy about claiming ownership of other people’s code—while at the same time beating their breasts about how they have been wronged. So the SCO people seem to have a few problems keeping the truth straight, but if there is something they know all about, it’s hypocrisy.

Ha ha ha… “They are smoking crack.” I love it. I’m telling ya, kiddies, short SCOX stock right now, while you can. If I had two nickels to rub together, I would.

Well, Mr. McBride - the cat’s out of the bag. Your assertion of “stolen code” in Linux has been proven false. “Stolen code’, indeed - awful tough to steal code that’s been released under the BSD license. And I find it extremely ironic that your own company released the code under that license back in 2002.

Folks, if I were you, I’d start selling SCOX stock short right about now.

I don’t know how many of you reading this (Hi Mom!) have been inundated with spam. I know it’s the major bane of my existence… not only do they clog up my inbox with pure, unadulterated, shit; but they also make sending simple email difficult because every mail server operator worth his salt is setting up anti-spam filters faster than you can say, “Recall Gray Davis”. But I’m not bitter, no, I’m not fucking bitter. Check out what Wil Wheaton had to say about this subject - he’s suffering from much the same problem as me, and many other people. Hopefully there will be some tough anti-spam legislation coming out of Sacramento or Washington - cause for us grunts fighting the ground war, it’s really tough out there.

Fast Company magazine just had an article on a self-admitted eBay scammer. This bastard took hundreds of thousands of dollars from everyday people who were just looking to trade stuff on the ‘Net. Considering I got ripped for $800 in April, I know how this feels.

Wow. I noticed sometime ago that there were no comments links on each post anymore, and I really wanted feedback on the wallpapers I’d made. So I decide I’ll just fix it.
