For those who’ve been living under a rock… John Gilmore is an activist who supports privacy rights on the Internet (he’s one of the “founding fathers” of the EFF. He just got kicked off a British Airways flight for wearing a button labeled “Suspected Terrorist”. He’s already boycotting flying within the country because you’re required to show ID when flying; now looks like he’s going to go on a tirade about Free Speech on other aircraft. I found this source for this pic on the internet when I was farting around on images.google.com one day. The idea for the wallpaper attached below just popped into my head, so I fired up Photoshop and used my “less-than-L33T skillz” to create… this. It’s in 1152x768 format, since it’s designed to fit my TiBook. Enjoy.

Your 3-year old daughter comes up to you when you’re working on your laptop and says, “Daddy, I like your ‘puter. Can I have an Apple ‘puter when I get bigger? Can I have a blue Apple ‘puter?” And you immediately surf to eBay looking for an Indigo iBook. And you think, “Yeah, a couple of hundred dollars, hm, I can probably swing that for the tyke.” Then you realize she’s THREE years old, and can’t read yet. Dork!

I dig Jabber. We use it almost exclusively at work… and I maintain my own Jabber server on this box here - it’s too great a tool to not have my own instance of it. Anyway, since I turned “gay” by switching to the Mac I have been pretty bummed out about the lack of a decent Mac jabber client…

Well, I must be double-gay now… I just got a Mac G4 Cube. What a fun machine… and QUIET. I popped a couple of 256MB DIMMs I had kicking around in it and it just sits there and runs… very, very cool. My journey to the dark side is complete… heheheheh.
