- Laptop-mode isn’t enabled by default in Breezy. Edit /etc/default/acpi-support – change the last line (ENABLE_LAPTOP_MODE) from “false” to “true” to turn it on.
- The GNOME CPU Frequency Monitor applet also has the ability to change Intel SpeedStep governors and frequencies. chmod a+s /usr/bin/cpufreq-selector (yeah, suid stuff is bad, blah blah) and then left-click on the applet, and you’ll be able to change the CPU SpeedStep governors, or set it to a fixed frequency.
