Well, this guy on Planet Ubuntu wants to know if we blog about Ubuntu.  So here’s a trackback, bud – I definitely blog about Ubuntu.

If you ever want to see a Ubuntu Developer Summit at work, here’s a quick look into the proceedings of one of the BOF sessions. This was from the Network “Authentification-isms” BOF – we were talking about LDAP, Kerberos, and all kinds of other nastiness. As we’re trying to figure out what the hell we [...]

Yeah, I skipped out on blogging about days 1 and 2. See whiprush’s blog or Planet Ubuntu for more. I’m gonna blog about the OLPC – the One Laptop Per Child machine. Holy cow. Simply amazing technology, from the hardware up thru the OS and application stack. Sophomore in #linux just asked “Wouldn’t it be [...]

I’ve been threatening to do this for some time, and I finally have. I’ve replaced the Sparc that used to power this blog with an Intel box (2x 2.8Ghz Xeon). The Sparc was very reliable, but the load on it was rapidly approaching critical mass. I’ve migrated the blog and my mailserver over to this [...]

Cool.  The IBM/Lenovo “HDAPS” (hard disk accelerometer) works under Edgy Eft out of the box.  Just load the “hdaps” kernel module.  If you apt-get install hdaps-utils you can run hdaps-gl and see the accelerometer in action. I’m fooling with an alarm system powered by that now.  Cool stuff.

Remember that Ubuntu Billboard I blogged about?  Looks like it’s taken down.  I noticed its absence on my commute to work.    Hopefully Mr. Shuttleworth will do other forms of advertising – I had a lot of people mention to me they saw the billboard and were prompted to test drive the LiveCD of Ubuntu.  [...]

Yeah, this post is a few days late. Things have been hectic, between work and Linuxworld. So anyhow, let’s start with Linuxworld on Tuesday. I got to attend as a guest of HP, which was very nice. Filet Mignon lunch, anyone? Mmmmm. All I had to do was speak on their blades and how they [...]

Oooh, it’s a Ubuntu Billboard!  I snapped this while at 70 mph going up 101 northbound (just after the Ralston exit in Redwood City, FYI). I know the quality isn’t great, but hey, it’s a cellphone cam.  What do you want?    It’s just great to see the World’sGreatestOS(TM) publicized somewhere in the Real World.
